A walk in the park for Yohann Diniz

That was the scene from the European Athletic Championships in 2014, where the Frenchman set a new world record with a time of 3:32:33, a good one and half minute on the preceding record even after his histrionics with the flag.

Diniz, at one time, also held the 20km record simultaneously with the 50km achievement.

He is yet to win to Gold at the World Championships and is also missing a medal at the Olympics but looks more motivated than ever as he has become more consistent in the last two years, which is evident from his performances.

Here is a look at the individual honours of the 37 year-old Frenchman who should be a very serious contender for both the 20 km and 50 km walks in this year’s World Championships to be held later this month:

- 2006 European Championships, Sweden - Gold in 50 km walk.

- 2007 European Race Walking Cup, England - Gold in 20 km walk.

- 2007 World Championships, Japan - Silver in 50 km walk.

- 2010 European Championships, Spain - Gold in 50 km walk.

- 2013 European Race Walking Cup, Slovakia - Gold in 50 km walk.

- 2014 European Championships, Switzerland - Gold in 50 km walk and set world record.

- 2015 French National Championships - Gold in 50 km walk and set world record.

- 2015 European Race Walking Cup, Spain – Bronze in 20 km walk.
