Hemu is one of India’s most respected corporate CEOs, now a successful investor and entrepreneur. He has a 30+ year track record, having created significant stakeholder value in businesses, created world class consumer brands, driven aggressive retail expansion, nurtured passionate teams and pioneered innovations in internet and mobile commerce.

As Country Head, South Asia, NIKE Inc he set up the Nike India company in 2000 and built the foundations of the business. The key initiatives he successfully executed include building brand Nike in India, setting up local product manufacture to global standards, retail strategy/expansion and the India cricket strategy.

As President, Madura Garments (A V Birla group), he charted its $ 1 billion growth strategy in 2006. Earlier, he successfully led the turnaround of Madura Garments to profitability, and made it India’s largest lifestyle company. The team was energized and recast to grow to scale. He transformed its portfolio of brands into lifestyle icons and led the launch of Esprit in India, the most successful by an international brand. Madura’s aggressive retail expansion and world class operations were built under his watch. With an accurate view of the future, Madura was among the first Indian companies to build and leverage internet platforms.

Hemu is a golfer, scuba diver and is trained in Hindustani Classical music. He is passionate about sports, mobile and internet, and creative design.

Mahesh BhupathiDirector

Mahesh Bhupathi is a 12 time doubles and mixed doubles Grand Slam Champion and winner of 52 ATP doubles titles. In 1997, he became the first Indian to win a Grand Slam title, and in 2006, joined an elite group of 8 tennis players to have achieved a Career Grand Slam in Mixed Doubles.

In the 90s and 2000s, Mahesh became known as one of the world’s top doubles players. In early 2001, he was awarded the ‘Padma Shri’, one of India’s highest civilian honors.

Mahesh turned entrepreneur in 2002 and is the founder of the Globosport Group of Companies that has grown to become India's premier Sports & Entertainment conglomerate.

In 2014, he founded the International Premier Tennis League (League), a unique team-based tennis league that was played across 4 countries in Asia between 28th November and 13th December 2014. The League featured 21 Grand Slam Champions and 14 current/former World Number Ones. The League has revolutionized the game’s traditional etiquette in order to attract a new audience to the sport, which was evinced by the very large viewership worldwide and it promises to keep “breaking the code”.

He runs the Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academies (MBTA), a pioneering effort to promote the game of tennis across different levels. With over 25 centers spread across the country, MBTA has established itself as a force that adopts a systematic and well-planned approach at every stage in the process of tennis coaching.

Mahesh is the very epitome of an excellent sportsperson imbued and dedicated towards promoting sports in India. He stands as an iconic figure for budding sports persons and sports enthusiasts, both on the Tennis Court and off it.
